He is the only one who did not go into the building itself, considering La Samaritaine to be an island in the heart of Paris, and so extensively exploring the boundaries, passers-by, visitors, neighbours and stories.  He favours a documentary-style format in black and white to achieve his goal. Did he manipulate reality to create these extravagant and unlikely scenarios? While he didn’t arrange the white stretch limo on the pavement beside street sleepers, or the sticker transforming a fragment of the sign into a declaration of love to St. Rita, patron saint of lost causes, these joyful, unexpected and dramatic images amply demonstrate his skill in playing with reality, sublimating and shaping it to his own ends.
