à propos

If there is a dominant trend in photography right now, it's the staging.  In addition to painting, a major influence on the aesthetics of the still image is cinema – the concept of storytelling, directing the actors, the lighting and the narrative. With this small series depicting enigmatic and hidden moments of relationships between individuals, this young photographer has pushed the boundaries of his images by choosing an elongated format which reminds us of the silver screen, rather than photography. Sophisticated and questioning, portraying possible worlds, stories without beginning or end, refusing to be defined or determined, and – more importantly - never revealing the amount of time and work required to produce them.
